Amari, Thailand’s leading hospitality group, enters into a joint venture with Mandeep S Lamba to create Amari India
The partnership provides a stronger foothold in the India market for Amari to pursue its portfolio expansion plans.
Amari, Thailand’s leading domestic hotel management company, today announced a strategic joint venture partnership with Mandeep S Lamba, previously the Managing Director and Founder of Ten Hotels Pvt Ltd, a hospitality management company headquartered in Gurgaon, New Delhi, to launch Amari India.
This new development is in line with Amari’s recently announced plans to position itself as one of the leading Asian hospitality chains with plans to operate 51 properties in the Asia Pacific region by 2018.
The new joint venture brings within Amari’s foothold in India an established and dedicated network of tourism industry resources and a wealth of Indian hospitality expertise.
Mr. Mandeep S Lamba has enjoyed a successful 25-year hospitality career including tenure as President of Fortune Park Hotels, a wholly owned subsidiary of ITC Ltd, as well as the role of Managing Director for the Indian office of the UK-based financial services and real estate entity, Dawnay Day.
Mr. Peter Henley, Amari’s Chief Executive Officer commented, “We are delighted with this development as it is a perfect launch pad for Amari to position its quality services and value product line.
India is a key source market for Amari’s network of hotels and resorts in Thailand and brand recognition is very strong. Combined with India’s business buoyancy and burgeoning hospitality industry, this provides us with a compelling business rationale to strategically move ahead in this market.”
With the establishment of this joint venture, Amari will actively pursue its expansion in the Indian metro and tier-II cities with a view to securing management contracts for seven hotels and resorts across the Indian subcontinent within the next 5-7 years.
“We are confident that Mandeep’s professional expertise and industry insight will ensure that Amari will move forward in India at the right momentum, “ Mr. Henley added.
Commenting on the strategic partnership, Mr Lamba said: “I am truly delighted with our coming together and look forward to having a formidable presence in India over the next few years.
Amari is synonymous with traditional Thai hospitality and have been a force to reckon with in Thailand for more than four decades. I am equally thrilled that under the stellar leadership of Peter Henley, Amari has chosen to make their international debut in India and I am privileged to be a part of this venture.”
