GPS: 7.886725, 98.285698
Superbly located on a secluded beach at the southernmost corner of Patong, away from the crowded beaches, still a close enough walk to the shopping and buzz of the town, Amari Phuket offers you an incredible setting complimented by amazing views of the Andaman Sea.
Phuket’s pulse, a pristine 3 km stretch of white sandy beach and glittering water, an eclectic collection of shops, restaurants and host of activities from diving to island tours, beach sports and happening night-life, Patong Beach is a must if you’re in search sun, great food and loads of fun. Exploring on your own or with your family, this vibrant spot definitely has something for everyone.
Dating back to early 19th century, Wat Chalong or Chalong Temple is the largest and most revered Buddhist temple in Phuket. Formally Wat Chaiyathararam, the temple is dedicated to the two monks that led the citizens of Chalong’s fight against the Chinese rebellion in 1876. A stunning shrine, the centerpiece of the temple is the 60 meter tall Chedi while the walls and ceilings are decorated in incredible paintings illustrating the life of Buddha.
Just like any other temple Thailand, we recommend that your knees and shoulders are covered and that you take off hats and footwear when visiting Wat Chalong - ladies and gents.
Possibly the island’s best-known attraction, Phromthep Cape or Laem Phromthep is Phuket’s most southerly point and the place to be when the sun sets over the Andaman Sea. The cape is also home to an air-conditioned lighthouse and museum, featuring an array of fascinating historical maritime artifacts while the outdoor balcony offers stunning views of the islands nearby. Note to self, #selfie here.
