A Fresh New Look for Amari Palm Reef Resort & Spa 7/18/2007 7:41:00 AM

Situated in Southern Thailand, Samui Island is truly a paradise that has become world-renowned as a perfect hideaway destination.

Amari Palm Reef Resort & Spa sits at the northern end of Chaweng Beach, amidst gently swaying palm trees, screening the resort from the world.

Amari Palm Reef Resort & Spa has accommodation to suit every taste from balconied suites to family duplexes, with 53 superior rooms, 126 deluxe rooms, and 8 junior suites.

Early 2006, a new phase of renovations began at the Resort in Samui. As part of this development, the lobby was restyled and given a remarkable facelift. The fresh new look provides a much more open and luxurious feel.

The superior rooms also received an extensive makeover and are now more contemporary, chic and stylish than ever, with a much more spacious and light atmosphere within.

Enjoy the island's natural beauty, while luxuriating in the comfort and peace of the Amari Palm Reef Resort & Spa - you'll be amazed, you deserve a treat!

Get Back to Nature in Angkhang at Angkhang Nature Resort 7/18/2007 3:02:00 AM

Spend time outdoors, breathe cool fresh mountain air and unwind…

Visit the Royal Angkhang Station Project
This research project provides agricultural support to neighbouring hilltribes and develops non-indigenous crops for them to grow. Beautiful flowers and bonsai gardens are tended, alongside fruit, vegetables and herb gardens. The healthful produce of the Royal Angkhang Agricultural Station Project is available to purchase, depending on the season.

Bird Watching
More than 1,000 species of birds frequent Doi Angkhang, many of which are now rare or endangered. A good spot to watch for them is at Mae Phur Forest Station and on the way to Angkhang Nature Resort itself. Within the resort a wide variety of birds can also be seen.

Discovering the Natural Environment
There are many viewpoints in the Doi Angkhang area. One popular spot, Kiew Lom, found between Angkhang Nature Resort and Khob Dong Village, gives a view of Fang and a haunting cloud of fog, through which the sun rises and sets. Also, the area has many natural sights, such as waterfalls and caves (Subject to weather condition)

Editors Note:
A comfortable 3-hour drive from Chiang Mai, through some of Thailand's most spectacular scenery, Angkhang is the perfect place to unwind. Developed originally as part of the Royal Angkhang Research Station, the Angkhang Nature Resort offers 72 superior rooms and 2 suites.  Each room is furnished in teakwood, decorated with local Thai fabrics and has a spacious private balcony from which to enjoy the view of the surrounding countryside. The Camellia Restaurant serves delicious Thai and western specialities using the fresh vegetables, fruit and herbs grown locally by the Royal Angkhang Agricultural Station Project.

Baht for a Better Life 7/7/2007 4:05:00 AM

Your small change could make a big change to someone's life.

The Baht for a Better Life Foundation was started by Amari Hotels and Resorts in 1995.  Small change, contributed by guests to our hotels and donations from our staff, are used to further the education of children in Thailand.  There are no administrative costs in running the Baht for a Better Life Foundation.  Therefore, every dollar, pound and euro given to the fund is used for educational projects.

At present, we support two different initiatives - the Duang Prateep Foundation and the Amari Schools Project.  The Duang Prateep Foundation supports the children from an under-privileged area of Bangkok and their families.  In this area, poverty prevents the majority of children from completing even basic education.  Through the project, we can support children who are especially hardworking and determined to continue their studies, despite the odds being against them.

Funds from the Baht for a Better Life Foundation have also been used to rebuild a dilapidated school in Na Chompoo, Udon Thani and build seven new schools in Doi Angkhang and Viang Hae near Chiang Mai, Chumporn in the South of Thailand, Tak province on the border with Burma, Banjama in Chiang Mai, Baan Changlang in Trang and Bann Na Nok Peed in Loei.  As well as building the classroom, donations have been used to buy essentials such as desks, chairs, blackboards, books and pencils.

In addition, some of our guests have decided to give larger donations.  US$ 250 will pay for a child's school fees and necessities such as books, uniform and lunch for one year.  Many of these children have ambitions to become teachers or nurses, so that they can put the skills, which they have been lucky enough to learn, back into the benefit of their community.
